The Top 15 Scariest Logos

The Top 15 Scariest Logos, a Top Countdown from YoshiWii1.

Back in the day, credits on television shows were fully shown on screen. Not a split box advertising the next program or the following programs after wards? After the credits were over, it was fairly common for people to quickly change the channel or hide away from the TV. You know why? Because of the logo at the end would scare the crap out of the viewer! But all logos have their differences on why they are scary? They could be loud and startling? They could have eerie graphics or music? Or they could have super rough animation? But what ever they are? This is my list of the scariest logos out there in MY opinion?

=Number #15 Ruby-Spear Enterprise's Golden RS=
When I was in 8th grade, I would always watch the action cartoons on Cartoon Network's Boomerang channel at night. They had a nighttime block called Boomeraction featuring many old action cartoons from Hanna Barbera and Ruby-Spears. Every time after Thundarr the Barbarian was over. It would play the Golden RS logo after the credits. This logo although it was made to be shiny and pretty? It freaked me out quite a bit. The jarring zooming out of the logo and the high pitched shining music in a black background. And the jarring fade to "The Taft Entertainment Company" byline. What made this freak me out even more was I would always watch these shows in a completely darken room. Looking back now, it was not as scary as it was back then but still unnerving today.

=Number #14 Worldvision Enterprises INC. Zooming Globe=
This logo is more common than the Golden RS to find on TV. You can catch this logo on Little House on the Prairie on TV Land. Like the Golden RS logo, this also has a zooming out animation and a black background. But the radar globe in the background zooms into the "Worldvision Enterprises INC" headline. What makes this scary is the white flash at the beginning and the ugly bong synthesizer as its zooming in. Also because it how the synthesizer gets louder a few seconds later. It sounds like something is about to jump out at you! I remember this logo would come on after Judge Judy and it scared me back then but not so much now. It's kinda cool actually.

=Number #13 DiC Entertainment Kid in Bed=
This company DiC had a history of rather eerie logos so it's no surprise why its on here. The ones before this logo looked like they said "die" instead of dic due to the type font. The logo does look somewhat cheap since the bedroom looks like it was copy and pasted onto a starry sky. The scary thing about this logo is the not the kid himself but what's IN his room! The toys on his shelf don't look very friendly especially the dinosaur. The kid and his Beagle are sleeping in the bed unaware that the toys look threatening as if they are about to attack him? This would scare just about any kid? When the camera zooms out the window, a sharp looking star forms the dot in "DiC" followed by a little kid saying "DiC."

=Number #12 Genesis Entertainment G in Space=
Damn this logo is chilling! There is a meteor shower shooting across the G followed by icy Genesis Entertainment byline! It's loud too and it has that empty space type of music? Don't turn the volume up too loud whatever you do! What's iconic about this logo is that its from "Tales from the Crypt" which is on the Chiller channel and FEARnet. A channel for horror shows. This logo is for sure gonna scare the crap out of you when you first see it! The way the Genesis Entertainment byline forms will make you feel cold and gave you goosebumps! Luckily this logo is rare?

=Number #11 Rankin Bass=
This is the loudest logo on this countdown. It is SO LOUD THAT WILL BLOW OUT YOUR COMPUTERS SPEAKERS! Even worse if your a headphone user! The animation is just simple cheesy animation. The music however is loud, startling, and dramatic. This was basically the Paramount Television Closet Killer of cartoons? Both of those logos are very loud and starling. But this logo is nothing compared to the Paramount Closet Killer? Next Christmas when you watch Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer? I have the TV volume low when the credits begin? Trust me, it needs to be low or else the sound will break your TV speakers!

=Number #10 ADV Films Hieroglyphics=
Without a doubt the scariest anime logo ever! This logo appeared in the Sonic the Hedgehog OVA along with another scary anime logo "Taki Corporation." The logo as a jarring orange light in the beginning with a bang! Then the screen scrolling through a bunch of Hieroglyphics like the Matrix. With really creepy scrolling sounds and a flashing boosh! And another empty space feel like the Genesis G in Space logo. Hahahaha get it? This logo appeared in Sonic the OVA and it's just like the Genesis Entertainment logo? LOL!

=Number #9 THX Deep Note=
Everyone knows about this iconic logo? It's featured in so many movies and games! THX helped the movie industry alot with it's sound system. This is probably the most famous logo on this list and one of the most iconic logos of all time. Anyway, this logo is a trill seeker. It's starts out quietly in a black background with an airplane like sound and slowly getting loud and louder! It sounds like the your about be in a plane crash and finally the THX logo appears in a shiny silver color. THX has also driven fears into some people called "THX-phobia."

=Number #8 Sony Playstation Personified Fear=
When I was little kid, the regular Playstation start up always give me the chills. But when you remove the game disc as it's starting up or if the disc is dirty or scratched? You get the Personified Fear start up instead! It begins when the fade to the PS logo gets cut off by a grey screen. Then a super scary and loud echo plays! It doesn't sound like any video game console would? It sounds like a demon is watching you just because you removed the disc or the disc is dirty? If you still own a Playstation 1 console? DO NOT REMOVE THE DISC AS ITS STARTING UP! Always make sure the disc is clean! This logo was terrifying to me as a 4-7 year old!

=Number #7 A Rainbow Releasing Production=
Luckily this look doesn't have any kind of sound? But it is still creepy! In the logo, the camera fades into Orson Welles taking a Rainbow out of some little box. With the camera zooming in the rainbow typing in letter by letter "A Rainbow Release." The way Orson stares at you as if he some sort of psychopath! The lack of music also increases the scare factor. Plus this logo is the most cheesiest one on this list. The arc of "A Rainbow Release" doesn't even match the curves of the Rainbow! The A Rainbow Release even stays on the screen a second after the logo fades to black!

=Number #6 Klasky Csupo Super Scary Face=
Where do I start with this one? I saw this logo alot as a kid when Rugrats, Wild Thornberrys and Rocket Power when they were on Nickelodeon. This logo was intended to make you laugh? But instead it scared the crap out of some many kids! It never scared me as a kid back then but now I realize how creepy it really is! Those eyes and that mouth! God man! Did they not think that this would scare kids or what!? It's not his voice that is scary or the cartoonish sound effects? Its the freaking face! It's like something out of your worse nightmare! Plus he is smiling and staring at us as if he accomplished something good! He did alright, by scaring the crap out of so many kids, teens and even adults!

=Number #5 Family Home Entertainment 1983=
Oh god! Not this one! This one is the most terrifying children's logo ever! This logo gave me so many nightmares as a kid! The logo begins with a zipper like sound effect with a flipping school bus-yellow background. The music is loud, eerie and just bad on the ears. Not to mention the logo itself is an eyesore? But the creepiest part about this logo is the Xylophone sound effects that play when the byline is being typed like a typewriter! Even after that the music gets scarier as it whooshes and the screen stretches out! If you own a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, He-Man, GI Joe, Transformers or Gumby tapes? Don't watch this logo! Fast forward it!

=Number #4 Screen Gems The S from Hell=
One of the most iconic of the scariest logos. The S from Hell is a spiral flame-red S in a goldenrod background! The colors of fire and hell! The animation is rough too while forming the S. Which a red dot appears in the middle. Resembling an eyeball. Then the ugliest french horn plays the one of the creepiest music to any logo in history! It's like the eye in the middle is staring at you ready to take your soul! This scared millions of viewers back in the 60s. They even made a documentary film on this logo! Called "The S from Hell." You can still find this logo today on reruns of Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie on Me-TV. It was formerly on Hanna-Barbera cartoons mostly the Flintstones when Columbia owned the rights to Hanna-Barbera at the time.

=Number #3 Paramount Television Closet Killer=
This logo was my worst fear as a little kid. It was so scary to me that I remember just running out of the room screaming it was so terrifying! The Closet Killer would appear on shows like The Brady Bunch and Happy Days. The logo was especially scary since it was became quiet after the shows were over and the jarring cut to the Paramount Closet Killer. In this logo, its a split-box with the byline Paramount Television in one column and the Mountain in the other. A very loud, starling dramatic fanfare would play and the animation would zoom up really fast on the mountain. Fading out with a tweet! That tweet was high pitched too! I will never forget this logo as it was my biggest fear as a little kid. Thankfully in recent prints of The Brady Bunch and Happy Days they got rid of this logo! Thank god they did that! I would have put this as number one but there are two more logos that surpass this in scare factor?

=Number #2 Viacom V of Doom=
You all saw this coming didn't you? This is the most iconic of all scariest logos along with the S from Hell and the Paramount Closet Killer. First debuting in the 70's, this logo surpassed the S from Hell as the scariest logo on Television. Viacom was a small company that became huge later on owning several channels on TV including MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, CBS, TV Land, etc. It later bought Paramount Pictures too. They call this the V of Doom because the Giant V slowly appears in the background. Then it comes towards the screen more going faster and rougher until it engulfs the whole screen making it turn black with a BANG! If you saw this on an actual TV, it looks like it gonna jump out of the TV and attack you! There was even variants of this where the music is rougher and the Giant V mores way faster with the BANG! even louder! There is even movie theater versions of this logo! If I saw this logo in the theater, I would wet my pants! My personal logo, the Y of Doom was based off this particular logo. There is one more logo that is arguably even scarier than this!

And Number #1.............

=VID "BND" Russia Mask of Doom=
You may not have heard of the this logo. I haven't it either. It was a logo only shown in Russia on a channel called "BND" VID in English. This logo is the worst of them all....a screamer type! At first it's just a horizontal line that starts jams back and forth due to a ping pong ball bouncing off the edge of it. As the ping pong bounces off, the line stops and a ball falls into the background disappearing. Then a ripple effect appears with dramatic music. Then the screen fades to a black background with a stone face of a possessed looking Chinese Emperor. Then the byline BND appears in gold font and with creepy fanfare echoing out. This is one hell of a scary freaking statue head! It looks like it's possessed! It also turns out there are variants of this logo where the mask morphs into different faces including a Russian celebrity who opens his eyes real wide! The April Fools variant has open eyes and a tongue sticking out! There is even one with another Russian celebrity who is angry and talks! Recently this logo, has become an internet meme due to it's scariness! Earning this logo the scariest logo of all time!

Ah, THX. Half the audience is now deaf!

I find the Valve logo creepy for some reason, just the valve in the back of the bald guy's head.

I do remember having nightmares about the THX Logo, including the deep note and that robot. Homer tooken care of my THXphobia.

Scare Factor: Depending on the variant:
  • Medium for the original variant. Like its predecessor, the picture along with the disturbing, ominous music can unnerve many players, but this logo is nowhere "near" as freaky-looking as the first one was.
  • High for the "turning head" variant (although this was arguably intentional), the once-still picture of the man now turning his head towards the camera is bound to surprise players used to the original variant as well as first-time viewers. The retained ominous music doesn't help matters.

This is the Valve Scare factor taken from the CLG Wiki

I was a bit Squicked out seeing the original in Portal, but the Variant in Portal 2 really scared  me.

You wanna see a few other scary logos that I didn't put on this list? Remember Hecules and Xena: Warrior Princess the live action shows? Well, there is one logo from those shows that is nightmare inducing! *shivers* That Tibetan Monk Hymn sounds like it's saying "OHHH SHITTT!!!!!!!!!" And that Leonardo Di Vinci-like portrait doesn't look too friendly either!…

That does nothing for me. Doesn't even make me say 'what?'

There's a CreepyPasta story about the VID/BND Logo in case everyone seems to forget.

I can see that? I have seen an 8-bit version of the logo as well
